The Computer Place — A Division of Hensley / Elam
A London Technology Legacy, Growing Stronger
The Computer Place website is joining Hensley / Elam at hea.biz—bringing our customers one stronger destination for managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud services, business communications, and automation.
Three decades of technology service
From a London technology pioneer to a stronger statewide team
The Computer Place was founded in London in June 1995, when business technology looked very different than it does today. Its early work in software engineering, internet presence development, and document imaging helped Kentucky organizations adopt the tools of a changing economy.
Sixteen years ago, The Computer Place became part of Hensley / Elam. That combination joined a trusted London name with the experience and resources of a Kentucky technology firm founded in 1998 by Russ Hensley and Sam Elam.
Today, that work has evolved into comprehensive managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud services, business telephone systems, technology projects, and modern automation—delivered by one connected organization.

Leading local conversations about IT, cybersecurity, and AI
Hensley / Elam co-founder and CEO Russ Hensley is a London native and North Laurel graduate. His connection to the region is personal, and it continues to shape the company’s investment in local relationships, technology education, and economic opportunity throughout eastern Kentucky.
Through The Computer Place and Hensley / Elam, Russ and our team regularly share practical technology guidance with the London–Laurel County business community. In 2026, Russ presented at Chamber programs focused on responsible artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, compliance, and the real-world ways local organizations can use technology to work more securely and efficiently.
These presentations are part of a broader commitment: helping regional leaders understand new technology, make informed decisions, and turn innovation into opportunity for southeastern Kentucky.
“Our name and website may come together under Hensley / Elam, but our commitment to London is only getting stronger.”
